To give further details, the woman in the story, Taunya Hilliard is my sister and Spencer Hepko is my nephew. April and I were blessed to have Spencer live with us for a year when he was 2 years old. We didn't have kids then, and always considered Spencer to be our own.
We spent two days at Spencer's bedside at Harborview Medical Center before he passed away. During that time we were surrounded by love and support from our family and friends. After Spencer died, we began to think about the numerous amounts of families that are in similar situations that do not have the support that we did. Therefore, we decided to start The Spencer Foundation.
The goal of the foundation will be to raise funds to assist families in similar situations such as ours. In times of tragedy we hope to provide meals, bibles, financial relief with bills or lost time off of work, funeral expenses, counseling services, or any other support that a grieving family may need. We also hope to have an impact on the way that the State of Washington and Child Protective Services investigates and responds to claims of child neglect.

It's a wonderful thing you're doing here Brandon and April. Spencer will live on through these types of things, in addition to the organs that were donated to other children in need. You two are a blessing.
It's been a blessing to see how this could have caused great chaos and anger, but God is being glorified through it. First through the grace given to us by our Savior Jesus Christ then through your obedience to seek Him during this great tragedy. Praise the Lord for you guys!! We would love to help some how. Maybe I can give a percentage of my CD sales to this cause:) That's something I would love to do. Every CD I sale I would love to give $1.00 to your foundation.

Uncle Brandon this is AMAZING!! This is such a wonderful idea.. Robby and i are putting together money that we get from moms social security and spending 100-150 dollars ever month! I love you!! Spencer would be SO proud!
